The Solution:
CNSG rose to both challenges. The first stage was to mount a static IP enabled camera on the roof of a Hotel across the street front the museum. Using a time lapse capture module we were able to capture single frames every day during construction. For the grand opening, the single images will be assembled into a movie. This dramatic presentation the audience will see the demolition, site preparation and like a Phoenix, the new crystal addition rises to proclaim a new era for the ROM.
The second stage, CNSG saw an opportunity to show off our wireless camera technologies. A custom enclosure was designed and built for the equipment and camera for the lifting boom on the crane. The antenna broadcasts what the operator sees to a base station 250" below. This dramatic view is then sent to the ROM’s website. The entire system was designed in such a way that the image is delivered regardless of the orientation of the lifting crane and conditions.
What they say about CNSG:
"In May 2003 we contracted with CNSG to supply us with a webcam to track the construction of the museum’s 170,000 square foot addition (www.rom.on.ca). I have found Canadian Networks to be a reliable and professional contractor. They provided us with good advice on the appropriate technology to use, and worked with us to configure and install the camera in a physical and network space over which we have to control. I have no reservations recommending the work of Canadian Networks."
